Colder! Mildred Tripp of Landrum reports that her nephew, Mark Hunnicutt of Hendersonville, is recuperating nicely from a bone marrow transplant oper ation. An appeal was made during the fall for funds to help pay for the ex P cns ive operation, and Mrs. Tripp said many Thermal Belt people sent checks. Mark was suffering from acute leukemia, and doctors in Seattle, Wash, agreed to give him a bone marrow transplant using his brother Chris's mar row. _ P c pp^ion took place Nov 24 and Chris returned home to Hendersonville the day before i Mark is expected home March 5 and is planning to go into the ministry. Martin said Friday that she is not running away from the con troversies which stemmed from the board's handling of public business during her tenure. Rather, it is her need to pursue her own career fulltime that has led to the decision, she said. Martin is a sales associate with Coldwell Banker Town & Country Realtors. Polk County Republican Party chairman Larry Poe said those gathered at Republican head quarters Thursday evening to discuss the upcoming election gave Martin a standing ovation for her service to the county.
